  • Sewing needle
  • Scissors

The sewing process onto the Pointe Shoes

Follow these steps for the perfect results on how to sew elastic on ballet pointe shoes:

  1.  Measure the elastic so you have the correct length
  2. Pin it to the shoe so it’s in the correct place
  3. Thread the needle with cotton that matches the color of the pointe shoe and knot the end of the thread.
  4. Stitch around the edges of both ends of the elastic taking care to only go through the lining of the shoe. Do not go through to the satin on the outside.
  5. Once the elastic is securely sewn into the shoe, knot the end of the thread and cut off any excess thread.
